CSNews' Foodservice Industry Report 2006
In the face of operational challenges, convenience operators are reporting strong performances from the foodservice category, according to the latest Convenience Store News Foodservice Study. It was a year of innovation, with new flavors, new breads, new packaging, even some new ergonomic shapes for eating on the run, as well as a few well-known retailers taking their foodservice cafes to a new level. This exclusive study is based on surveys returned by 101 convenience store companies who offer some type of foodservice program, and includes commentary from select retailers and industry experts. When asked to name the biggest challenge in their foodservice program over the past year, a majority of respondents cited new menu items, which served in many cases to bring new energy and customers into their stores.
